I’m heading to the motherland…

I really should stick to mixing music rather than cakes as my baking attempts are now reknowned for going wrong (and by hook or by crook fixed to a standard my kids can forgive and delight in), but my son wants an ‘eyeball’ for his 7th birthday, so here I am sneaking in a quick blog while he tells me “Mummy, this won’t really be a sponge cake. It will be more..umm…flat”. He knows my unskills so well.

I digress. This year, I’m beyond excited to be playing the Swingamajig electroswing, vintage & gypsy music festival in Birmingham on Sunday 3rd May. Yes I know I blogged it before, but hey, spreading the joy more than once is never a bad thing is it? Just check out this line-up: http://swingamajig.co.uk/whats-on/ Let’s be honest, it’s a who’s who! And I’m so thrilled to be a part of it.

The only thing I’ve ever had to do with Birmingham before now is working on the branding for the Bullring when it was revived some years ago, that, and my grandmother came from the city. So it’s about time that changed, and how great that it’s through music that I get to visit.

After the brilliant night I had on Saturday with the guys and gals of The Triangle Tavern in Lowestoft, I’m hankering after another brilliant party, and I have a sneaking suspicion that Swingamajig may be one of those very special occasions – just look at the video for a taster! It’s impossible for me to choose who I’m most excited to see play – so many of my heroes spinning – I’m spinning just thinking about it.

If I’m honest, I’m still feeling a little bereft at the loss of my monthly night in Woodbridge so a road trip early May will be just what the doctor ordered while I continue work on the next plan.

Anyway, I will be heading up from Suffolk with a small crew, and if you fancy joining me – wherever you are in the world, here’s where you can get tickets: Click Here!

Right, my cake biscuit thing is done so I must away to see what I need to do to save it, but I’ll be back before you know it! Here’s to a good week in the meantime, and thanks for the great times over the weekend, Lowestoft!
